Title: checker board and reverse checker board patterns

How many of us have woken up with a story in our head? Put it down in words only to find it grammatically incorrect. I know, I have. This morning I woke up thinking about checker board and reverse checker board patterns and the memories came flooding back. After attending University where I did engineering I was lucky (I'll come back to that later) enough to secure a one year government funded ┬ÁP (microprocessor) course. I will be forever grateful to the two tutors who interviewed me. Saw my potential and took a punt by offering me a place on the course. Something I've never looked back from. By now some of you will have lost interest and scrolled on to the next news item. For those left who are still interested or curious let me continue by saying. I did the course and graduated with distinctions. After completing the course I took up a permanent job offer as a hardware design engineer for a microwave instrument company in Cornwall. Now, getting back to the point of this post, checker board and reverse checker board patterns and memories. I remember how excited and thrilled I was on the first day of the job to be working at the forefront of technology, a revolution that was to determine and change the course of my life over the next thirty years. By now you might be wondering so what is this checker board and reverse checkerboard pattern thing that is so important for me to slog my way throughout reading this post. Checker board and reverse checker board patterns are a way to test the integrity of RAM (Random Access Memory) and NVR (nonvolatile RAM). Writing a software utility to test RAM using mnemonic for a 6809 microprocessor was one of the first tasks assigned to me when I joined the company in Cornwall. Ah! those were the days, interesting and exciting times. The microprocessor revolution, a technology revolution that was to sweep and change the course of history for most of us and the way we live today. I moved on from Cornwall (that's another story for another time) six years later after working my way up to be the company senior hardware/software design engineer. Back to luck, what is it? well to me luck is when preparation meets opportunity. Memories are precious, so I'll end (what's that I hear you say "thank god"  ) by saying good luck, good hunting, stay hungry, stay foolish and have a great weekend.
